Treat improvements from larger datasets, context windows, and compute as capability gains—not automatically as durable competitive advantage. Build your AI strategy around a specific customer problem and proprietary value rather than simply using more resources.
If competitors can access similar architectures and scaling techniques, technical capability alone may become easier to match. Deliberate choices about customers, workflows, data, and positioning can create a more defensible business.
Ask: If every competitor had access to the same model performance tomorrow, what part of our product would still make customers choose us?
