Assume your idea will be copied and build advantages competitors cannot quickly reproduce, rather than relying on secrecy or being first.
An idea alone offers little durable protection. Founders need to direct scarce resources toward defensibility that strengthens as the company executes and grows.
Ask: If a well-funded competitor copied our product tomorrow, what specific advantage would still make customers choose us—and what can we do this quarter to deepen it?
