Define the few principles your startup will not compromise as everything else—product, market, team and tactics—changes. These invariants give the company continuity without mistaking today’s plan for its identity.
Without explicit invariants, founders can either drift with every new opportunity or cling to obsolete tactics. Knowing what is essential makes adaptation faster and more coherent.
Write down three things that must remain true for this to be the company you intend to build. For each, specify one current decision it should shape and one change it should not prevent.
