Treat customer desires, product features, and business goals as distinct languages. For every proposed feature, explicitly connect the customer outcome it serves to the business result it should create.
Teams can agree on words while optimizing for different outcomes. Making the translation explicit reduces misalignment and helps prioritize work that creates customer value and supports the company.
Take one roadmap item and complete this chain: “Customers want ___, so we will build ___, which should improve ___ for the business.” If any link is weak, revisit the proposal.
