Treat how easily people understand your product idea as an early product test. If the explanation lands closer to “WTF” than “simple,” clarify the core user, problem, and value before adding more features or detail.
A complicated pitch can signal an unfocused value proposition. Simplifying it helps founders identify the essential customer benefit and make better product decisions.
Explain the idea in one sentence: “For [specific user], we solve [specific problem] by [core mechanism].” Ask five target users to repeat it back; revise wherever their interpretations diverge.
