Don’t make a distant startup milestone the sole condition for feeling successful. Define success to include how you work and live now, not only the outcome you hope to reach.
Even exceptional business outcomes may not automatically create happiness or fulfillment. A present-tense definition of success helps founders make clearer choices without asking the company to satisfy every personal need.
Write two definitions of success: one for the business outcomes you want and one for the quality of life and work you want this month. What needs to change so you can pursue both?
