Prioritize by examining the recurring tensions shaping daily decisions—not only by ranking initiatives. The gap between competing demands can reveal where the team most needs clarity and deliberate tradeoffs.
A prioritized list may direct attention temporarily, while unresolved tensions keep producing inconsistent choices. Naming and addressing those tensions can improve decision quality across everyday work.
Ask your team: “What tension do we repeatedly act out—such as speed versus quality or customer requests versus strategic focus—and what explicit tradeoff would help us decide more consistently?”
