Don’t treat compromise as the default response to competing approaches. For each conflict, deliberately choose among three paths: commit boldly to one option, design a new solution that integrates the strongest elements, or balance the trade-offs when both sides genuinely need preserving.
Automatic compromise can blur priorities and produce weak decisions. Choosing the appropriate decision mode creates clearer commitments and makes trade-offs easier to explain and execute.
Take one unresolved decision and ask: “Does this require a clear commitment, a genuinely new synthesis, or an explicit balance—and what evidence supports that choice?”
